The TIME knob will allow you to sync the delays to your tempo or whatever offset timing you’d like. Combining this with the TIME knob can make your original midi input much more musical. One of my favorite things to do with this knob is to pitch it all the way up or down to 12 so that each delay plays a new octave. The PITCH knob will increase or decrease the pitch of each subsequent delay up to 12 semitones. Decreasing will lower the cutoff with each subsequent delay.

For example, increasing MOD X will increase the cutoff of each delay more and more as each delay plays. After you’ve set these initial settings, you can go into the Echo Delay/Fat Mode section and further manipulate your delays with the MOD X and MOD Y knobs. MOD X controls the cutoff frequency and MOD Y controls the resonance. You’ll have 8 different filters you can choose from. This section is located in the envelope tab of the sampler channel. This is only available when using audio in a sampler channel. MOD X and MOD Y are actually referring to the filter section of the channel settings. Switching Ping Pong mode on will bounce the delays back and forth from the panning settings. The PAN knob will move the location of the delays to the left or right side of the stereo field. It will fade out the delays when you set the knob lower or increase each delay’s volume when you set the knob higher than 80%. The FEED knob will keep each delay the same volume as the input signal when it is set to 80%. The Fat Mode will add a flanger/phaser type effect to your sound. The echo presets will simply add a delay effect to your sound. When you click the drop-down menu, you’ll have access to 6 different presets to get you started, including 2 Echo presets and 4 Fat Mode presets. This will allow you to add more movement and a more interesting overall sound to your selected instrument or sample, before you add any effects to the insert the channel is routed to in the mixer.Įcho Delay/Fat Sound is located under the Miscellaneous tab in the channel settings.

These products and deals range from around £80/$80 - £300/$300. Most companies do package deals which can include a shock mount, cables, reflection filter, pop shield or a mic stand. You can get some good results from some budget condenser mics such as the sE Electronics X1 S or you could go for something like the Rode NT1-A. I've always used this connection type and I'm aware of others using USB condenser mics and getting good results with them. For recording studio quality vocals I recommend getting a condenser microphone connected via XLR to your audio interface. It's an obvious one but you're going to need a half decent microphone, not a cheap mic that looks like the one used for karaoke. It has one XLR input to connect to a condenser microphone, Guitar jack input, balanced outputs for studio monitors, headphone output, powered via USB and built in 48v pre-amp, all for around the £100/$100 price point. If you haven't got an audio interface and want to get started on a low budget then I would recommend grabbing something like the Focusrite Scarlett Solo Most audio interfaces come with pre-amps as standard also referred to as Phantom Power or 48v. Audio interfaceįirst off you're going to need to have a audio interface/external sound card with a built in pre-amp. Having the correct equipment is must if you want to have good results and these wont necessarily break the bank, so let's go through some of the key elements you will need in order to get your desired outcomes for recorded vocals. The video above will guide you step by step in setting up FL Studio for vocal recording and also gives you a few little tips to follow when recording.
