Just trust me, he's phenomenal (and his song " Savior, Please" is one of my absolute favorites of all time). He's a brilliant songwriter, vocalist, guitarist, and performer. First of all, Jonny Diaz, whose sings the all-important song for any woman, " More Beautiful You", kicks off the tour with touching songs and great humor! He is followed by Josh Wilson who does something on that stage that I can't even begin to describe. I firmly believe that God will use these songs to tear down strongholds, usher in seasons of change, and restore hope to those who have almost given up.īut beyond getting the CD (which releases tomorrow October 5), if Matthew is coming to a town near you it is so worth seeing the live concert. A teenage boy being picked on in school, a grown woman coming to terms with the sexual abuse from her childhood, a family changed by the blessing of adoption.all wrapped up into songs of grace, honesty, and hope. I believe that everyone will be able to identify with these songs. The result is one of the most moving, personal, powerful albums I've ever heard in my life. Thousands came in from all over the world and he spent 2 months in a cabin turning these stories into songs. Matthew asked people to send him their stories. Boy was I right! After seeing his tour last night and listening to his new album " The Story of Your Life", I just HAD to tell you about how amazing it is! When Matthew first told me about what he was doing for his new album I knew God was going to use it in a big way. I tease that when we write together he transforms from a White boy to a Black woman so he deserved a "Black girl name": Matthwesta! We had the same management and began writing songs together (if you have my albums he wrote on Only the World, Voice of a Savior, Freedom Song, Not Guilty, Christmas Makes Me Cry, and more). The new studio album, Into The Light, was released last September featuring 12 tracks inspired by 10,000 new letters.Last night I attended Matthew West's "The Story of Your Life" tour in Murfreesboro, TN. We're going to continue to see thousands of lives changed."Īfter receiving over 10,000 personal stories from all over the globe for his 2010 album, The Story of Your Life, West felt as though there was even more for others to say during this season of his music. And that's what Teen Challenge does and will continue to do, by God's grace and blessing. Hope that no matter how deep a person goes into the pit of sin and addiction, that God can bring them out, that Jesus Christ can set them free. The one thing that Jordan's testimony and Matthew's song is about, is hope. "The exciting thing about Jordan's story and Matthew's song is that that is repeated over and over again in Teen Challenge. Teen Challenge USA President Jack Smart was also on hand to share about the life-changing ministry of Teen Challenge. I refer to myself as Jordan, a child of the One True King." I no longer refer to myself as a drug addict. Right? He says we've been set free, that we're a new creation. "The world tells us that we're drug addicts, and that we'll be drug addicts for the rest of our lives. He began to restore, he began to heal," Jeffers added. "Through the twelve months at Teen Challenge, God changed my life. You love me too much to leave me at this place.' She said, 'Son, I love you too much to take you home.'" I said, 'Mum, there's no way you'll leave me here. Immediately when I failed the drug test, my mum and dad, they entered me into a Teen Challenge. Jeffers said that as a "good Christian kid" and seven-time All-American athlete, addiction wasn't something he struggled with until he began abusing prescription pain pills after a college football injury. Jeffers' story was one of the 25,000 letters that to date have been submitted to West after he invited people to inspire his songs and albums with their stories. West's song was inspired by the real-life story of Jordan Jeffers, who also spoke at the convention to explain how he overcame drug addiction with the help of Teen Challenge.Īccording to a news release from Teen Challenge USA, "Hello My Name Is" illustrates the Biblical message of new life in Christ by depicting the tearing off of old labels and putting on new ones through the power of Jesus Christ. Grammy nominated singer songwriter Matthew West appeared at the NRB Convention on Monday to share the story behind his current single "Hello My Name Is" from his current album Into the Light.
